Peggy Johnson attended Coverings’16 in Chicago, Illinois – April 17 – 20

Coverings in an international trade fair showcasing the newest and most innovative tile and stone products in the world. Over 40 countries and 1,100 exhibitors were showcased along with accredited seminars and live demonstrations with some of the industry’s most highly regarded experts.

A featured session with internationally renowned colour and trend guru Leatrice Eiseman was particularly inspiring and exciting. Edie Cohen, editor of Interior Design magazine hosted a round-table discussion with leading designers in all sectors of design. Andrew Fay, of the Getty’s Group gave a dynamic seminar on global trends and the impact that design has on our experience.

The Installation Design Showcase featured the work of 5-star installers and designers who created four unique vignettes that were constructed live at the show. How-to demonstrations showcasing a wide variety of new products and techniques, interactive demonstrations and workshops as well as 9 miles of the latest products showcased in amazing booths, made for an exciting, inspiring and exhausting few days.

Of course no designer visit to Chicago would be complete without a trek to the Merchandise Mart, the world’s largest commercial building and design centre. The Mart is chock-full of luxury kitchen, bath, furniture, fabric, tile, hardware, lighting and design showrooms.
